The Vintgar Gorge is 1600m long and up to 250m deep on the eastern edge of the Triglav National Park, 4 km northwest of the centre of Bled.
It was formed by the mountain river Radovna, which flows into the Sava Dolinka soon after leaving the gorge as a right tributary. The Radovna basin is located in the Krma and Kot valleys in the Triglav mountains, and it also collects water from the northern part of Pokljuka and from Mežakla. Its valley above Vintgar is 19 km long.
